DOUBLE STORY RESEARCH

For this assignment, we are choose to do in group to study a double story house. We are ask to do research about opening and wall, ceiling, stairs, flooring and relationship between beams and columns. For my part, I’ll do research about relationship between beams and columns.

The basic difference thing between them which is they both are same material wise. If keep it horizontal it is call beam. Beam carries the load by bending also called flexure. If keep it vertically forms a columns it carries load by undergoing compression.

COLUMNS

In building structures, columns are build on different footings to transfer the load of the building to the footings of the building. There are two type of columns which is slender columns and short columns. The column is said to be slender, if the cross sectional dimensions are small compared to its length. When the condition of the columns is opposite to that slender columns, the columns are classified as short columns and short columns normally use more then slender columns.

BEAMS

In the structure,  beam columns is used to carry the loads from the slabs to the columns. The concrete beam can be classified as T beams, L beams and rectangular beams. For more information, there are I section, L section and U section in the steel bar. Beams are normally designed for bending moments and sheer stress. Due to the loading, the vertical reinforcement is used to prevent the shear stresses when transverse reinforcement is used to prevent the bending moments.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COLUMNS AND BEAM

For the relationship between columns and beam, they are load carrying elements but differ in the method or the way of handling the load by each member. The columns bear the compression of the load where the  beams bear the bending moment and the shear force of the load. They both have the similar material to used in contraction which is steel, timber and concrete. A building can't stand without columns but building can stand without beam. The columns are classified as two type which is slender and snort while beams classified  three type which isT,L or rectangular.

After perspective drawing, we start to learn how to draw orthographic projection which is we need to draw the top view, side view and front view of the object. This exercise is important because we need to master this exercise before we start to draw floor plan. During our class we are given an exercise.

After the exercise, we are given the same assignment but this one way more complicated because of the curve line.

After we finish our one point and two point perspective furniture drawing, we finally start to learn what interior designer need to learn. We start to learn one and two point projection which is drawing and interior space with one and two point perspective. We are asked to find one point and two point interior space for our assignment.
This is my two point perspective of a bathroom. It was complicated at first drawing on this because of the line and confusing.

After our conturing and hatching assignment, we are ask to choose two type of furniture and draw one point and two point perspective. The furniture that i choose which is a plastic chair and a sofa. I choose plastic chair for my one point perspective and two point for sofa.

On top the picture which is my two point perspective drawing. At first when I draw it was complicated for me but after a few drawing it started better.
For our first assignment of Design Communication, we are ask to buy one capsicum and ladyfinger for this conturing and hatching assignment. After we did a few exercise, the lecturer ask us to draw three different angle of capsicum.

After the conturing drawing, we also asked to draw 4 capsicum and ladyfinger with different type of technique which is hatching, cross hatching, stippling and scribbling.
